Katie Rowan
Katie Rowan has founded a steering group to promote the music of Ina Boyle who was a first cousin of her grandmother. Katie’s mother was the organist of Portlaw Church, Co. Waterford for over 40 years. She studied singing with Elizabeth Downey, and also piano in Waterford. After a career of more than 30 years in the disability and not for profit sector, Katie has taken an active part in her retirement in supporting young Irish musicians through organisations such as Irish Heritage. This involvement rekindled her interest in Ina Boyle which she describes as ‘a wonderful discovery of the breadth of the whole Irish musical canon of which Ina is a part. I therefore share the aims and objectives of RMFI and I am delighted to have the opportunity to make a contribution to a revival of Ina Boyle’s music.’
