Dr Damian Evans: MMus (DIT), PhD (DIT)
Damian is a double bassist who has been a major contributor to jazz in Ireland since his arrival here in 1997. Damian has also been involved in the traditional Irish music scene and can be found on many Irish recordings including appearances with Sharon Shannon and Gerry O'Connor. He has toured extensively throughout Europe and also the USA, India and the Dominican Republic.
In 2011 he awarded the Fiosraigh Scholarship, Dean of Graduate Students Award to complete his doctoral research at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama with DIT’s Graduate School of Creative Arts & Media (GradCAM). In 2016 he successfully completed his PhD in jazz studies.
