Dr Philip Graydon
While Philip’s current research interests centre on early twentieth-century German opera in its historical, political and aesthetic contexts, he has published essays on early Irish modernist composers (specifically, the music of Brian Boydell, Aloys Fleischmann and Frederick May). He has presented papers at conferences in Ireland, the UK and Serbia, and was Honorary Deputy Membership Secretary, Honorary Membership Secretary and a Council Member of The Society for Musicology in Ireland (2006-2012).
He is currently a Lecturer in Music at TU Dublin Conservatory of Music and Drama (2006-) and a Lecturer in Musicianship at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (2010-), having previously taught at National University of Ireland, Maynooth (2002; 2005-2006), from which he received the degrees of BA and MA. He has contributed to teaching and supervision at BMus, MMus and doctoral level at the Conservatory. Trained as a classical guitarist, Philip has studied interpretation with Kevin Jennings and Benjamin Dwyer.
