Dr Karol Mullaney-Dignam: BA, PhD (NUI)
Karol's research centres on music and dance as social and cultural observances and markers of individual and collective identities. Her work is varied, spanning the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, and employs primary source materials in the creation of historical narratives.
Previously an Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow, she has a particular interest in the musical culture of Irish country houses and estates. View a short video presentation on her recent research here.
Karol works to enhance both scholarly and public understandings of Ireland’s musical heritage within a broad range of contexts. She is a RISM Ireland Steering Committee member and also manages the RISM project, ‘Music in the Irish country house’.
